  BNC
Stands for: Bouncer
Terminology | Dictionary | Explanation

A BNC is an IRC proxying server whichs allows users to connect to irc servers by bouncing off the computer which is running BNC. Basically, it forwards the information from the user to the server and vise versa. This way other users on the irc server can't see the user's real ip. Because of BNC's unique property, It sends the IP address of the host computer to the IRC server, thus the real address of the user is hidden from others. Using a BNC, you can also stay connected to irc 24/7. It's also able to log private messages when the user is not logged in.
