  Rated
Synonyms: Censored, Clean
Terminology | Dictionary | Explanation

As in a release tag. Rated means a movie is censored. Usually this means that short scenes which show nudity or explicit violence, were cut out of the movie. Therefore, the rated version of a movie is often a bit shorter than the unrated version. An exampe: in the rated version of American Pie, Jim's father catches him with the pie while standing near the counter in the kitchen. The unrated version shows Jim's father catching him laying on top of the pie on the bar in the kitchen.

Music can also be censored. Usually this means that bad words are replaced by 'bleeps'. In case of music, the tag (Clean) will be added to the release title. The unrated/uncensored version of a music release is tagged with the tag (Explicit).
