Last week two major torrent websites were shut down. The websites were ran by two Brits, and the websites were hosted in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
First, the tv torrent website tv-links.co.uk was shut down by the Dutch provide Leaseweb. The admin, a 26-year-old man from Cheltenham, was arrested on Tuesday morning. The website probably offered (pre-retail) scene releases.
After that, another major torrent website, OiNK.CD was shut down by the Dutch and British police. This website was hosted at the Dutch provider Nforce.nl, and it was also led by a Brit. The 24-year-old man from Middlesbrough was also arrested on Tuesday morning. The Dutch anti-piracy organisation BREiN and the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) seized the server material. OiNK had about 180.000 members at the time it was shut down. The provider NForce.nl also once hosted the famous Pirate Bay.
The website now shows the following message: This site has been closed as a result of a criminal investigation by IFPI, BPI, Cleveland Police and the Fiscal Investigation Unit of the Dutch Police (FIOD ECD) into suspected illegal music distribution.
A criminal investigation continues into the identities and activities of the site`s users
