Emch was sentenced to 12 months in prison on one felony count of conspiracy to infringe copyright. Emch was also ordered to pay a $5,000 fine and serve 2 years of supervised release.
Emchs arrests was part of Operation FastLink. Operation FastLink is the largest and, thus far the most successful federal crackdown on piracy world wide. The operation produced more than 120 search warrants and arrests in 12 countries. They have confiscated hundreds of computers and allegedly illegal online distribution hubs. And they`ve removed 50 million plus of software, games, movies and music from distribution channels.
Emch was a leader of the release group MaGE. He was accused of providing access to "illegally obtained copyrighted content" to himself other members of his group. Also they`ve even went as far as linking warez grps to spam.
