In order to make the scene more secure, the scene now uses aggressive methods to get rid of torrent/p2p sites. Yesterday, alleged scene members revealed the identity of the owner of FTN (Feed The Net), a very large torrent website. Brandon aka CELLKiLL is not the first target, at the end of last year the administrator of SuperTorrents, Ersan, was also exposed. His identity was revealed and they transferred all his torrent donations, with a value of $2054 dollar, to waheguroo.com. At the time, they already promised further actions against Brandon aka CELLKiLL:

The next paragraph in the scene notice of FTN exposes all the personal details of Brandon. His full name, date of birth, email addresses, IPs, and more. Most painful fact would be that Brandon actually studies Computer Security. Besides this, the nfo also mentions links to Facebook profiles of him and family members.
Will Brandon be the last target? Probably not. The scene notice is clear on this, since it ends with the following sentence:
"We have yet again erased another torrent admin from existence. Other Groups, do your part to make the scene what it was in the beginning.. Secure."
There are still lots of torrent websites out there, which endanger the scene. With a growing amount of people on the internet, and a growing amount of public torrent websites, torrent websites become more and more dangerous for the security of the scene. Torrent websites endanger the scene, because they make scene releases (warez) available for the public. The availability of warez for the public attracts attention from anti-piracy organizations. It seems that the scene is tired of this, and in order to make the scene secure again, they now use bigger guns. Besides the security issue, the scene wants to be exclusive again. A last thing which is totally not-done in the scene is making money from scene releases. Torrent siteowners usually make money with their websites. They receive donations, and earn advertisement revenue. |
